I just finished reading a 95 page pdf guide to making money online with affiliate marketing called Affiliate Golden Secrets written by Ahmed Alsamanoudi, an affiliate marketer from Australia.
I liked that there were good intentions behind this and that Ahmed didn’t let anything stop him from putting out his own product. The product itself though, isn’t all that great and I’ll tell you why in this review.
First, Affiliate Golden Secrets at a glance:
Name: Affiliate Golden Secrets
Author: Ahmed Alsamanoudi
Verdict: Too basic and disjointed. Better training available. Skip.
What is Affiliate Golden Secret About?
There are no secrets to making money with affiliate marketing. There may be things you don’t know about yet if you’re a newbie or an unorthodox method that someone uses that works for them.
Affiliate marketing on the internet has been around for about 20 years now and although there are different methods you can use, the steps you take are pretty much routine.
The difference lies with the uniqueness of each marketer and the way they do things. This is why one person might use the same instructions as another and struggle for months with the other makes sales consistently.
With Affiliate Golden Secrets, the author promises to show you a newbie friendly way to generate income month after month with affiliate marketing.
He says that you will build a complete business in just 10 days using his step by step guide and you’ll only have to work 30 minutes of each day. The key words here are “complete” and the time it takes daily to build a business. I don’t think you can build a complete business within 5 hours but maybe the secret is contained within the book and I completely missed it in the 9 years I’ve been doing affiliate marketing.
The author goes on to claim that the gurus are using this secret system and doesn’t want to talk about it. This is more hype than truth as you will come to realize.
The sales page has some grammatical errors and attempts at hype which should tip you off to the quality of the product.
There’s only one screenshot of a Clickbank account but there are two of the authors earnings from selling this $7 product which I think should not have been included. We want to see evidence that the author is making money with the methods he’s speaking of, not that he’s making money selling his book.
Review of the Affiliate Golden Secret Book
The book is broken down into 10 steps as days 1 through 10 with a different task for each day.
The author first gives a summary of the task for the day and then he outlines the step by step details. For example, he kicks off the book on the right foot with the first step anyone needs to take when trying to build an online business – finding a niche.
He explains niche marketing and gives some examples then gives a couple action steps that the reader needs to take. I found that this was a good move.
However, in the details section for day 1 which is supposed to be the step by step section, he shows how to set up a Clickbank account which is just basic information. Pictures and basic instructions on setting up the account follow.
The author then talks about finding something to promote on Clickbank but talks about stuff like gravity without explaining what “gravity” means. This goes against the newbie friendliness that was promised on the sales page.
The rest of the book is mainly basic stuff like:
- buying a domain name
- setting up hosting
- making an affiliate link clickable
- setting up Paypal
I didn’t think that there needed to be a section on setting up Paypal. The author doesn’t talk enough about the methods you can use to make $5000 month but spends too much time on setting up stuff. Because of this the 95 pages of info is filled with fluff.
One things that made this book really bad for anyone reading it was that it was filled with grammatical errors and punctuation errors. There are full paragraphs with multiple sentences filled with commas and no full stops in site. The book needed proofreading really badly. How do you make a living with written content and not have the time to edit it for errors?
Recommendations I Didn’t Like
There were some information that the author gave in Affiliate Golden Secrets that are just plain bad advice and I just couldn’t agree with them. This is a guide aimed at helping newbies and I didn’t think that newbies should be subjected to this kind of advice. They would be starting off on the wrong foot and setting themselves up for failure.
One of these recommendations is on content writing. Here is how the author suggests that readers find content for their websites.
“The best way and the easiest way is to get content from another website and modify it and change it a little bit also add your affiliate link so you can get sales and make money.”
This is a direct quote from the book and it’s very bad advice.
The best way to get content for your site is to do either know your subject and write about it or thoroughly research it online and create your articles. “Modifying and changing it a little bit” gives the impression that it’s OK to copy and paste if you just do a little editing. This is not OK and there are all sorts of things wrong with this and could get you into trouble.
Content isn’t that hard to write and the best way to not struggle to write content is to pick a niche that you’re passionate about and know very well.
Another things that didn’t make sense was the recommendation to go to Fiverr and pay for a gig to install WordPress after buying web hosting. Why didn’t the author just show how to use the one click system now available in most admin areas?
This is an unnecessary step and if you want to easily create a site then you could just use something like SiteRubix, even if you’re following Affiliate Golden Secrets or any other system. Site Rubix simplifies the process and cuts it down to a few easy to follow steps that will have your website up and running within minutes. And it’s free.
More bad advice and recommendations come in the form of getting indexed and getting backlinks. Unnecessary and potentially harmful stuff especially if you follow the author’s advice to buy a Fiverr gig to get 3000 backlinks created for your site.
There’s also a section on US Free Ads to post ads. Nothings new and no secret at all. US Free Ads was hot like 5 years ago when “bum marketing” the hottest money making trend. Then people forgot about posting ads and wrote articles for sites like Hubpages and Squidoo. My advice is to forget about writing content, especially posting ads, for other sites and concentrate on building your own website’s content.
Doing Affiliate Marketing the Right Way
Bad advice, poor copy-editing and the lack of a proper system overall makes Affiliate Golden Secrets a not so good read. To me, it’s basic and doesn’t reveal anything that I can apply to my current business. There are no secrets.
Then again, I’m way past being a newbie, the audience this book was written for. Even so, the book will only start off something new on the wrong foot. It’s severely disjointed and after 10 days, all you will have is some accounts, a website and a focus on things that are either unnecessary or plain wrong.
It’s just $7 but that doesn’t excuse the poor quality.
I’ve always said that you cannot learn how to build an affiliate marketing business, let alone a complete one, from a pdf guide. You need constant, up-to-date information as things change all the time.
You also need clear step by step instructions with tasks that need to be completed as well as a way to ask questions when the need arises. An ebook cannot take you from point A to point Z in your quest to building a complete affiliate marketing business.
This is why I always recommend that people starting out should try Wealthy Affiliate since it’s an educational platform that has everything you need to learn how to make money online. Free websites, step by step instructions, support, classrooms, live video training and lots more. And it’s free to get started.
Wealthy Affiliate vs Affiliate Golden Secrets
Considering the things I mentioned above that you need in order to become a successful affiliate marketing and the shortcomings of Affiliate Golden Secret, here’s how Wealthy Affiliate compares with the book.
Both are different but the key thing to remember here is that they’re both offering to show people how to make money online as affiliate marketers.
If you’re going to follow a system, it’s best to start out with the one that will set you on the right path to success and give you all the tools, support and training to get there. Affiliate Golden Secrets, it appears, has failed to live up to it’s promises.
